This family-run coffee business has been operating for four generations, and resort is a functioning coffee mill during the harvesting season. You can tour the coffee factory, with its four wet mills and one dry mill that still uses much of its original equipment. You can also harvest coffee with the locals, or work and harvest in the greenhouses and exotic flower gardens.

Horses and mountain bikes are available with knowledgeable guides, as well as luggage transfer, if you want to check out any of the other fincas in the surrounding area on the Ruta del Cafe, which links 12 organic coffee fincas in the area.

Arrange ahead to be picked up and dropped off at the bus station or airport in Tapachula. The cabanas at Argovia have either one king bed or two queen beds with comfortable, quality more...

Attractions

Connect to surrounding fincas and mountains by horse, mountain bike, or foot an an extensive network of trails and roads. Harvest organic coffee beans, flowers, or vegetables on the property. Tour the coffee milling factory.

The finca is an hour from Tapachula, a lively border city with Guatemala.

Responsible Action

The resort was established to support an increase in wages for the coffee harvesters, many of whom have been on working the finca for generations. Argovia has organic certifications for coffee and flowers, and has created a new garden supported by WWOOFers that serves the restaurant. Bruno Giesemann, Argovia's owner, established the Ruta del Cafe, a route linking 12 surrounding fincas to promote communication and increase sustainable tourism in the area.

Responsible: Bruno and his team are terrific, make sure to ask him also about birdwatching! Chiapas was nothing like I expected and I can't wait to return.

Responsible: The coffee was the best I've ever had and the meals at the restaurant were locally produced and delicious. This place felt remote, peaceful. The staff was incredibly friendly and took me on multiple tours of the area. Highly recommended.
