Las Golondrinas (the swallows) is an exclusive guesthouse in one of the quieter areas of the Tepoztlán Valley. The main plaza of Tepoztlán is a ten-minute ride by car or an easy 30-minute walk.

Each of our three guest rooms opens onto an expansive terrace. Enjoy lounging in one of our hammocks or sit poolside, where you can enjoy the view of the garden, filled with fruit and ornamental trees and palms.

Attractions

Prices include an all natural full delicious breakfast.

Tepoztlán provides a great starting point for traveling this region of Mexico. Within a 90 minute radius of Tepoztlán there are many interesting sites, among them the colonial city of Taxco, the Cacahuamilpa Caverns, and Xochicalco pyramids. You will have the opportunity to enjoy some natural spring waters like Las Estacas. There are also several recently restored colonial convents and the Tepozteco pyramid, which is only accessible through a one-hour mountain trail walk. There are also several hiking trails in the surrounding mountains, each offering peaceful scenic vista points. We can provide you with an experienced guide to do this.

Wednesdays and Sundays are market days when artisans offer a huge variety of original arts and handicrafts. There are also 2 Spanish language schools near downtown.

Responsible Action

We participate in local movements against corporations such as the Golf War in 1995. We try to make some conciousness about why we need to respect resistance of the local people. In the sleepy village of Tepoztlan, 35 miles southeast of Mexico City, from 1995 through 1998, there waged a quiet ware that some have come to call the golf war. The dispute raged over the development of a golf course, an 800 room luxury hotel and business park on land that Tepoztlan villagers say is sacred and constitutionally deeded to them. The jobs offered in the proposed hotel, business park, and golf course are not the type of work the villagers of Tepoztlan want or need. The villagers proclaim that for generations residents of Tepoztlan have always been farmers; now is not the time for them to learn to be caddies.
