Rising in the Himalayas of Dolpo district, Bheri is yet another incredible whitewater rafting river of Nepal. Being the remote river located in West Nepal, it remains relatively unexplored with its relishing campsites surrounded by lush vegetation, tranquil environment and picturesque scenery.
The mellow rapids of Bheri, graded as easy whitewater for its fun-filled yet calm flows offer an enchanting whitewater rafting trip in this Himalayan river complemented not only by the beautiful scenery but unspoilt villages, vibrant local traditions, interesting people with warm and hospitable cultures and unique flora and fauna. Bheri is also spotted as one of the best rivers for fishing.
The two large tributaries, Thuli (meaning big) and Sani (Small!) unite at Ramnaghat to form the main Bheri River. The Bheri Adventure Experience?.
Day 01 - Samjhi Ghat:
Early morning, we fly from the capital city Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, it is an hour flight offering the spectacular vistas of the Himalayas with the never-ending horizon. On arrival we will be met by our trip leader and we drive to the put-in-point in Samjhighat which takes approximately 3 to 4 hours. The drive itself is a unique experience, winding up through the Siwalik hills and passing through local villages.
Upon arrival at the starting point your own tented camp awaits you on the banks of the Bheri river. Dinner will be laid out for you around the campfire.
Day 02 - Kumal Gau:
Our day begins with a refreshing cup of coffee, pumping up more enthusiasm and more energy for our adventurous day. After breakfast we break camp and start on our exploration down the Bheri river. After 20 minutes on this wonderful whitewater, we encounter our first big rapid, one of many to come. The Bheri itself is so remote that it remains a relatively unexplored river of West Nepal. The first section of the river is quite rough with twisted bends creating many exciting rapids.
We stop for lunch beside the river and take time to explore the surrounding area, bird-watch or simply laze in the midday sun. We continue to encounter more whitewater and come to rest on one of the many sandy beaches.
Day 03 - Jamu:
The "Exciting" section gives way to a narrow gorge section with vertical cliffs of 200 - 300 feet on either side, interspersed with open valleys where there are small villages. This area is generally scenic but here too many whitewaters are encountered for us to tackle the fun-filled active torrents. Once again we find one of the many pristine beaches for our campsite for the amazing night.
Day 04 - Karnali Tented Camp:
The final day on Bheri river still holds a few surprises with several small but exciting rapids to be stumbled on. After an hour float we arrive at the confluence of the Bheri and the Karnali river. Once again we enter another gorge section, this time opening up onto the huge plains of the southern Terai region of Nepal. Once through this gorge, we enter into the Bardia National Park, here we arrive at the Karnali Tented Camp ? a perfect haven for one of the best wildlife sighting destinations.
Karnali Tented Camp is situated on the banks of the great Karnali River and has twelve spacious safari tents with comfortable twin beds, separate hot showers and modern jungle toilet amenities. The Camp overlooks the Karnali River with its wide sandy beaches and low riverine grasslands.
