The ExchangeTourism process is created through an attractions program between the urban and rural community.  The Zikra Initiative creates trips for the urban community to travel, participate, and experience Jordan’s heritage and roots in interactive workshops led by the local community. In exchange, visitors pay a nominal fee that is channeled into a microloan in addition to other economic and social development projects.

The micro-loan is provided for a recipient family, interest free.  Each month the family pays back 20 JODs and provides community service hours. The community service requisite encourages civic engagement and supports their fellow community members.   Once the micro-loan is fully paid back, it is reused and directed towards another family to launch a business.
