Description:
Day 1:
The first day will be our "Gorge" Run. On the morning of the first day we'll meet for a river orientation and safety talk and then set out to raft the lower 11 miles, known as the Gorge Run. We'll stop midday for a delicious deli-style lunch on the riverbank, and then it's off to the bigger rapids in the lower section of the Gorge run.
That night we will camp out and enjoy a delicious meal prepared by your guides. Plenty of time for playing and enjoying a great slideshow of the days events.
Day 2:
Eat a balanced yet scrumptious & satisfying breakfast before rafting the 10 miles known as the "Chili Bar" Run. Encounter rapids such as the Meatgrinder, followed by Triple Threat, Racehorse Bend and Troublemaker.
We'll be back to the campsite by early afternoon in time to enjoy a big barbecue lunch.
Conditions:
Central California, One hour east of Sacramento near Coloma
Difficulty: Class III, Beginner/Intermediate
Available daily, Mid-April through October
Minimum Age: 7 years old
Melting snow from the High Sierras creates this 21-mile whitewater river in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada near Coloma on Highway 49, one hour east of Sacramento. The water is clear and cool; the air is clean and warm
Other Considerations:
CLASS III+ (INTERMEDIATE: MEDIUM INTENSITY WHITEWATER - 21 MILES)
We believe the South Fork of the American River is the best river in California for both first-time and more experienced rafters. Because the South Fork is a premier dam controlled river in California, it is a consistent Class III intermediate whitewater river.
Responsible Action:
It’s our view that rivers are magical. They are the lifeblood of our state, and they provide a spiritual, environmental and economic boon to the communities they run through. We like to share that magic...
Our philosophy extends beyond just an attitude, or a viewpoint. We strongly believe that we have to not just talk the talk, but also walk the walk. In short, our company donates resources of all kinds – dollars, time and energy – into organizations, auctions and events that benefit our rivers, our communities and the people who live in them.
