This is a strenuous trek crossing eleven passes, three which are over 5000m and you have to be physically fit and mentally prepared. The trek begins from Paro/Punakha (west) and ends in Bumthang/Trongsa (central). It is a combination of Chomolhari, Laya nad Lunana trek crossing the Renchen Zoe pass altitude 5400m, the hughest opass in Bhutan. The trej can take 21days or 28days deoending on which you prefer to choose. It is one of the most challenging treks in the Himalayas.
Highlights: This trek leads you to the seldom visited region of Lunana passing some of the last virgin peaks of the Himalayas offering you great variety of trekking conditions, from picturesque farmland and forest to alpine pastureland. This trek will take you close to the huge snow, ice and rock faces of the mountains more... where most of the Himalayan peaks towering to the north are unnamed and unclimbed. The only inhabitants are rare species such a bharal, or blue sheep, taking and the snow leopard. During the spring, summer and autumn, the alpine meadows are filled with countless varieties of flowers.
Day 01: Kathmandu ? Paro. During this flight, Druk Air will give you an opportunity to glance at the magnificent view of the Himalayas. You will be greeted by Tiger Mountain representatives and drive twenty minutes throiuth the beautiful Paro Valley. Ovenight stay at Kichu Resort. Altitude 2200m.
Day 02: Paro sightseeing. PM ? Afternoon at leisure or visit a farm house. O/N at Kichu Resort.
Day 03: AM: For better acclimatisation hike up to Taktsang monastery altitude 3000m. The hike tajkes about thre hours overlooking the Pario valley. Lunch at Cafeteria.
PM: Easy walk doen and drive to resort. You can relax and prepare for the trek.
Day 04: Paro ? Shana 16kms. 5/6 hours walk. Altitude 2800m.
Day 05: Shana ? Soi Thangthangkha 24kms. 8/9 hours walk. Altitude 3800m.
Day 06: Soi Thangthangkha ? Jangothang 12kms. 4/5 hours walk.Altitude 4050m
Day 07: Halt at Jangothang. Options ? fishing/excursion to Chomolhari base camp/relax.
Day 08: Jangothang ? Lingshi 18kms. 6/7 hours walk. Climb over Neyle pas. Altitude 4700m./ Camp at altitude 4100m.
Day 09: Lingshi ? Chebisa 14kms. 5/6 hours walk. Altitude 3900m.
Day 10: Chebisa ? Shomuthang 16kms. 7/8hours walk. Climb over Gubu la pass. Altitude 4600m. Camp at altitude 4250m.
Day 11: Shomuthang ? Robluthang 18kms. 8/9 hours walk. Climb over Jari la pass. Altitude 4650m. Camp at altitude 4300m.
Day 12: Robluthang ? Lingmithang 16kms. 8/9 hours walk. Climb over Shinje la pass. Altitude 4950m. Camp at altitude 4100m.
Day 13: Lingmithang ? Laya 13kms. 5/6 hours wlk. Altitude 3850m.
Day 14: Laya halt. Ecursion around the village.
Day 15: Laya ? Roduphu 19kms. 8/9 hours walk. Camp at altitude 4150m.
Day 16: Roduphu ? Narithang 16kms. 6/7 hours walk. Climb Over Tsimola pass Altitude 4700m. Camp at altitude 4250m.
Day 17: Narithang ? Tarina 17kms. 7/8 hours walk. Climb over Kangla Karchula pass altitude 5100m. Camp at altitude 3900m.
Day 18: Tarina ? Woche 15kms. 6/7 hours walk. Camp at altitude 3800m.
Day 19: Woche ? Lhedi 17kms. 7/8 hours walk. Climb over Keche la pass altitude 4500m. Camp at altitude 4000m.
Day 20: Lhedi ? Tanza 18kms. 7/8 hours walk. Camp at altitude 4000m.
Day 21: Tanza ? Tshochena 18kms. 7/8 hours. Climb over Jazela pass altitude 4900m. Camp at altitude 4100m.
Day 22: Tshochena ? Jichu Dramo 14kms 6/7hours walk. Climb over Loju la pass altitude 4900m. Camp at altitude 4400m.
Day 23: Jichu Dramo ? Chukarpo 18kms. 8/9 hours walk. Climb over Rinchenzoe pass altitude 5400m. Camp at altitude 4200m.
Day 24: Chukarpo ? Tempetso 19kms. 8/9 hours walk. Climb over Tempela pass altitude 4600m. Camp at 3900m.
Day 25: Tempetso ? Marothang 15kms. 6/7 hours walk. Camp at altitude 3400m.
Day 26: Marothang ? Nikachu 22kms. 7/8 hours walk. Camp at altitude 2600m or drive to Wangdiphodrang. Overnight at Kichu Wangdi Resort.
Deay 27: Early morning drive 5 hours to the capital city Thmpu. Enroute visit Punakha the old capital, winter residence of the head abbot. Overnight.
Day 28: Thimpu sightseeing.
AM: Visit th indigenous hospital where traditional method are still practiced, ptainting school, National library a treasure trove of priceless Buddhist manuscripts, Royal goldsmith workshop, weaving centre and Bhutanese paper making. (Lunch)
PM: Visit the Memorial Chorten dedicated to the late King, 15th century Changangkha Lhakhang, Drupthop Nunnery and Tashichhodzong centre of Government and religion. Drive to Paro 2 hours. Overnight at Kichu resort.
Day 29: Early morning drive to airport for departure.
