Botanical Treks & Excursion’s Profile
About Me
I began my career as a guide and eventually realized how much I had learned and decided to put that to use by starting and growing my own business right here in Nepal.
As an Eco-member of KEEP (Kathmandu Environmental Education Project), our commitment towards the environment is inevitable. We are committed to active initiatives like popular ‘Pack it in and Pack it out’, ‘leave no trace’ principles, Minimum Impact Code. No disturbance or feeding animals with human food. We clean up properly the camping terrain after the overnight stay. When trekking we place the tent toilet at least near 50m away from streams and rivers to avoid water pollution. While trekking in the fragile land we encourage our trekkers/staff to carry only degradable materials.
In terms of energy conservation, we use of gas cylinders, fuel efficiency stoves, and kerosene rather than using trees/trunks as fuel. Alternatively we encourage our participant to use rechargeable batteries/ solarium energies.
Our goal is to always elevate the idea of fair travel, in order to pass on the benefits to local people by buying their products. We foster cultural exchange programs between guests and tourists and take joy in explaining local histories and mysteries, because every part and person in Nepal has interesting mythical stories. We advise our trekking participant to respect local culture, to try not change the local people but follow their culture while trekking in their region.
Our guides and porters are trained to always keep safety a top priority, we provide funds for their training.
We have eliminated the use of plastics in our office.
We have employed porters and guides from local areas who are from marginalized people groups, as indicated by government of Nepal like Sherpa and Tamang.
We help a local remote village of Nepal through provision of stationery to school children, a community development program through KEEP.
Our name is eponymous with some of trekking offerings - if you are especially interested in trips that highlight flora and their uses, we have plenty of experience putting together itineraries.
