Responsibility Agreement
I have a responsibility to conduct myself and my business in ways that preserve local culture(s), foster local economic development, protect the environment, and promote peaceful relationships between travelers and local people.
Anyone receiving travelers becomes part of the travel industry. An individual or enterprise providing travel services can choose to be either responsible or irresponsible with respect to local culture, environment, and economic impact. The growing travel industry has great potential to spread peace among people, create opportunities for local economic development, and help preserve cultures. However, if travel and tourism is conducted irresponsibly it also has the potential to damage the culture, environment, and foster resentment among people. Travelers and providers, alike, share the obligation of building a more responsible tourism industry. StepUp Travel promotes only those individuals and enterprises that agree to:
- Provide socially-responsible tourism activities and services that respect local culture(s) and benefit local communities.
- Dispose of waste properly, recycle materials when possible, minimize usage of electricity, water, and gas, and educate travelers to do the same.
- Facilitate interactions between travelers and local residents to help promote deeper cultural understanding.
I understand that travelers may post reviews on StepUp Travel about the ways I/we demonstrate my/our responsibility regarding culture, environment, and fair business practices. Travelers may submit our advertisement for review and possible removal from StepUp Travel if we operate in ways that are not consistent with this agreement.
